Extraordinary january for national alpine ski teams training

Bielmonte as a key training hub for national alpine ski teams worldwide

The Oasi Zegna Ski Racing Center, the innovative ski center developed at the Bielmonte mountain resort, is reaffirming its status as a top-tier training hub for some of the most prestigious national alpine ski teams. Throughout January, its five FIS-approved slopes have been at the heart of preparations for numerous international teams.

Among the highlights this month was the presence of the Spanish National Alpine Ski Team, featuring three World Cup athletes (Juan del Campo, Kim Salarich, and Engerau Garai), as well as the Swiss Women’s Europa Cup Team. They found ideal conditions for high-intensity training at the Oasi Zegna Ski Racing Center, with three Slalom courses featuring a 27% gradient and two Giant Slalom courses with a 29% gradient.

Thanks to an agreement with the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI), designating the center as the official training site for the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 competitive seasons, Bielmonte also hosted the Italian Men’s National C Team, led by Massimiliano Blardone – former Giant Slalom champion and now a key coach for Italy’s young talents. Additionally, the Italian Women’s Alpine Ski Team trained at the center, with athletes such as Asja Zenere, Elisa Platino, Ilaria Ghisalberti, Giorgia Collomb, Emilia Mondinelli, Roberta Melesi, and Marta Bassino.

This year’s big innovation is the introduction of speed disciplines on the Pista del Cerchio. The French Team made the most of this, training with both their World Cup downhill specialists, including Adrien Théaux and Blaise Giezendanner, and their Europe Cup athletes, under the guidance of Christophe Saioni, a former Giant Slalom specialist.

Other notable guests included Apex2100, one of the most prestigious international alpine skiing academies, which chose the Oasi Zegna Ski Racing Center to hone the skills of its Canadian and U.S. athletes.

How to end the month on a high note? With the return of the Argentine National Team, already present at Bielmonte during the 2023/2024 ski season, and the arrival of the Swedish National Team, featuring Olympic Giant Slalom champion Sara Hector.
